For How Long Do I Need Emergency Accounting?

In your mind, emergency accounting only sounds like something you will need once and for a short period of time, right? It might sound like you need a plumber or mechanic on an emergency basis, but it's only for a short time as long as it takes to fix the leak or get the car running.

Our emergency accounting clients, however, tend to stay with us for the long term, too. Why? Because unlike a plumber or mechanic, we ensure you will never need emergency accounting again.

Long-term financial health through three stages

We are usually contacted by clients in a panic. The ATO has their backs and they don't know how to deal with their debts. We work quickly, but follow a three-stage process that both addresses the immediate challenges, and then takes a longer-term and more strategic approach to your business.

Tax Review: Stage 1

We will provide you with an emergency tax strategy within 14 days of your contacting us. This is where we handle the immediate emergency. As part of this strategy, you will learn how to handle your ATO correspondence, and what you can do to prevent further consequences, given your circumstances.

This stage is about taking the heat off and allowing you the opportunity to get your circumstances under control.

The Tax Project: Stage 2

When you engage with us for the first time, the next stage typically takes 1-2 months based on the number of financial years that need to be brought up to date (i.e. how long-term your problem is). First, we have to get your accounts in order, then we need to deal with the ATO, which is one of the most important aspects of our Tax Project.

As a result of this stage, you will have your ATO payment plan in place. In addition, we will work with you to develop tax planning strategies so that you will not only be able to manage your current debt, but you will also prevent running into this problem again in the future.

Support on an ongoing basis: Stage 3

Once we have helped our clients navigate out of seriously rough seas, checking in every month to make sure that it doesn't happen again becomes a critical part of our service.

Once you’ve been in the emergency department once, you’d want to avoid it again, as they often say, “prevention is often better than cure.” Any situation that looks like it could snowball into a problem will be flagged by our ongoing support. In addition to keeping your debt management under control, we will ensure that it is actually a competitive advantage for you.

It doesn't matter how proficient they are at dotting "i's" and crossing "t's", they won't be able to work to the level that you need them to across those three stages. You need an aggressive ATO negotiator, a relentless and determined investigator, a savvy business strategist, a numbers genius with lateral thinking, and a dedicated wingmate.

That's what EPAS provides, and our highly efficient, three-stage approach can assist just about every organization that meets with us. We can get started immediately on your debts as soon as you contact us. Don't wait, if you are concerned about your ability to pay your debts, get in touch with us right away.

There Are Five Main Reasons Why Businesses Accumulate Tax Debt

There's something frightening about tax debt: it accumulates quickly, and it can be hard to determine where it comes from. A business can also face serious financial problems if it does not address the issue. We will explain why you are behind on your taxes as soon as you contact Emergency Accounting. Most often, it comes down to one of these five factors: Tax Returns That Are Not Filed Non-filing of tax returns is a common cause of tax debt for business owners. An unfiled tax return may result in penalties and interest charges, which turn the debt into a snowball rolling down the hill. Long-term debt accumulation can only be achieved by ignoring it. A business's tax return must be filed on time regardless of whether it is able to pay the full amount owed. Payment plans and other options are available to businesses who are unable to pay their taxes in full at the time of filing. Additionally, if your business faces financial strain, you might be able to negotiate a debt reduct...
